SSMH GARDEN GETS A SPRUCE UP THANKS TO SCOMI
Saturday, February 27, Petaling Jaya: SSMH this morning welcomed a team of about 30 volunteers from the Scomi Group. In its ongoing support of SSMH, Scomi today came in full force to landscape the grounds with trees, shrubs and even a herbal plot. On hand to give guidance and direct the planting was keen agriculturalist and SSMH supporter Encik Mohamed Shah Kadir. The volunteers from Scomi also spent time with the ssmh Saturday group of special children. At the same event, Scomi presented a cheque for RM 6,000 being proceeds from the sale of SSMH table calendars in 2015. These special calendars featured the art work of SSMH children.
Encik Hazri Koh from Scomi Corporate Communications, who led the team of volunteers said that "at Scomi, we are cognisant of our role as a responsible corporate citizen and firmly believe in giving back to the community. We have invested in various localised programmes in our operating locations globally with the hope of making a meaningful difference to communities via development, environmental conservation, and disaster relief efforts." He added: "Following our 2014 programme with SSMH, we are pleased to continue supporting and contributing to this Centre. This time around, we focused on several activities including clearing the road shoulder, weeding the entire compound, planting flowering plants and ornamental shrubs and some trees. We look forward to our next opportunity to work with SSMH and will remain committed to developing strong and sustainable communities".
SSMH President, Fadillah Yakin was thankful for support from companies like Scomi in helping the Society to create a pleasant environment for the children at the centre through making the garden a place of joy and beauty.
